When the COVID-19 crisis hit, restaurant dining rooms started to close. DoorDash knew we had a responsibility to help our partners, especially those in historically underserved communities, make it to the other side. We have rolled out a series of support initiatives to help our restaurant partners and the industry navigate the effects of COVID-19. We have:

What's next

Building the ‘next’ normal

We designed Main Street Strong to help restaurants reimagine and grow their business into the new future. Our suite of products, programs, and policies are tailored to restaurants’ unique needs and inspired by their feedback.

Storefront lets local restaurants create their own online stores and offer takeout or delivery — all with no commission. Right now, we’re waiving setup, monthly subscription, and delivery fees for local restaurants with five or fewer locations — now through the end of 2020.

‘Local Favorites’ — in the DoorDash app — helps consumers find great, local meals by providing hand-picked, nearby restaurants recommendations that are just a delivery away. On a larger scale, we’re launching cost-free initiatives like “Local Restaurant Saturdays,” which are aimed at creating sustained interest in eating local.

Restaurant owners can place DoorDash Weblinks on their websites that make it seamless and easy for them to retain their ever-evolving customer base. And, to keep them thriving, local restaurant owners can now pay 0% commission on any pickup and delivery orders placed through weblinks. This way, local restaurants can reach and retain even more customers.

Immigrants and people of color face unique barriers as they start and grow businesses, especially when it comes to securing capital. Since the beginning of 2020, we’ve continued to expand Kitchens Without Borders to further support our immigrant- and refugee-owned businesses — and amplify their reach. We’ve also announced new tools to help support Black-owned businesses, like access to business advising — and loan-matching (at 0%) through our partnership with Kiva.

CARES Act PPP Loans

We've partnered with BlueVine to provide an alternative path to applying for a PPP loan for restaurants who had trouble accessing an approved lender. Over 100 DoorDash merchants received PPP loans, totaling nearly $6 million.

We have also developed a multilingual guide to PPP loans, available in English, Mandarin and Spanish.
