Our mission at DoorDash is to help local economies thrive.

We’re proud to drive impact through a series of programs and initiatives that support local restaurants and the 15.6 million hardworking people who keep them going.

More likely to remain open

Restaurants on DoorDash are 4x more likely to have remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saved by restaurants

Our COVID relief efforts have helped restaurants save $120M since mid-March.

What we’re doing

When the COVID-19 crisis hit, restaurant dining rooms started to close. We knew we had a responsibility to help our partners, especially those in historically underserved communities, make it to the other side. We have rolled out a series of support initiatives to help our restaurant partners and the industry navigate the effects of COVID-19. We have:

  • Launched #OpenForDelivery, a campaign to let consumers know that restaurants are open, that delivery is safe, and that local businesses need their support more than ever.
  • Introduced Main Street Strong, a series of initiatives designed to help restaurants get back on their feet and accelerate into the new future.
  • Driven over 1 million incremental deliveries as part of our Local Restaurant Saturdays campaign in March alone.
  • Provided an alternative path to applying for a PPP loan through our partnership with BlueVine. Over 100 restaurants have received loans totaling nearly $6 million.

Our COVID relief initiatives have aided tens of thousands of local, independent restaurants — and we’re ready to help them stay up and running.

Volume driver

During the COVID-19 crisis, Weblinks have become the #1 volume driver for restaurants.

Storefront and Weblinks offer a commission-free option for local restaurants.

Increase in search

In June, we saw a 275x increase in the frequency of searches for Black-owned businesses compared to the month prior.

Where we're going

We designed Main Street Strong to help restaurants reimagine and grow their business into the new future. Our suite of products, programs, and policies are tailored to restaurants’ unique needs and inspired by their feedback.

Empowering restaurants

Empowering Restaurants to Operate Their Own End-to-End Ordering System

Storefront enables local restaurants to create their own online stores and offer takeout or delivery — with no commission.

We’re waiving setup, monthly subscription, and delivery fees for local restaurants with five or fewer locations through the end of 2020.

Driving demand

Driving Demand for Local Restaurants on the DoorDash Platform

Our Local Favorites Carousel highlights a rotating selection of restaurants to help consumers discover local cuisines that make each city unique.

We’ve invested in programs to drive demand for local restaurants on the DoorDash platform at no cost to the merchant, such as “Local Restaurant Saturdays.”

Providing access

Providing Access to Restaurants’ Online Menus At No Cost

DoorDash Weblinks placed directly on a restaurant’s website redirect online customers to DoorDash to place an order.

Local restaurants with five or fewer locations pay 0% commission on pickup and delivery orders placed with weblinks, so restaurants aren’t paying DoorDash for their own customers.

Addressing inequity

Addressing Systemic Inequity on Our Platform

Immigrants and people of color face unique barriers as they consider starting and growing businesses, especially with regards to accessing capital.

We expanded Kitchens Without Borders, an initiative to support immigrant and refugee-owned businesses and raise awareness of the critical role they play in our local economies and culinary landscape.

We announced a set of initiatives to support Black-owned businesses, including access to capacity-building resources such as small business advising and loan- matching at 0% through a partnership with Kiva.

Merchant Resources

  • We held a webinar attended by hundreds of local restaurants and developed a multilingual guide to PPP loans, available in English, Mandarin and Spanish.
  • We partnered with BlueVine to provide an alternative path to applying for a PPP loan for restaurants who had trouble accessing an approved lender. Over 100 DoorDash merchants received PPP loans, totaling nearly $6 million.

Operating Your Business During COVID-19

  • We’ve compiled merchant feedback and conversations with DoorDash customers to create a Merchant Resource Center, complete with operating tips and best practices in light of COVID-19 reopenings.

Restaurant Advisory Council

  • We’re launching the Restaurant Advisory Council (RAC), a diverse group of restaurant operators and owners who will advise the company on key issues.
  • Click here if you’d like to submit a question or topic for the Restaurant Advisory Council to consider during their upcoming term
